Second Kings
First Kings ended rather abruptly, so let’s just keep going.
In and throughout the 28 monarchies of the Divided Kingdom, we have 17 different prophets. Well, there were more, but these are the ones named and recorded in the Bible. Here in 2 Kings we see more of that overlap and the tension between those who rule and those who speak for God.
Ultimately, we will see both kingdoms fall, but not until we’ve read the stories of Elisha, Elijah, Josiah, Hezekiah, and a number of other characters who may or may not have books named after them.
We will explore what it means to stand up to injustice, to fight for righteousness, and how to pursue God even in idolatrous cultures.
