Whoever restrains his words has knowledge,
and he who has a cool spirit is a man of understanding.
Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise;
when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent.
— Proverbs 17:27–28 (ESV)
Some might believe that I haven’t blogged because I have nothing to say. In reality, I have a bit too much to say and, rather than say something I’ll regret or say something with less tact than is wise, I’ve chosen to close my lips. Or, more accurately, silence my typing keys.
Even a fool appears wise when he keeps his mouth shut.
We’re actually on vacation this week, so it’s been a wonderful excuse, an easy choice to enforce … especially since I have had so much trouble getting online this week. SERIOUSLY. There are benefits to having an old laptop, like wifi the speed of cold mollases. I had all these plans to do a ton of writing and reading this week. I have done quite a bit of reading. Writing? Not so much. Deadlines met? Definitely not. And yet, it’s been a delightful week. Perfectly peaceful.
I admit: I love unplugging. I always feel guilty neglecting my writing responsibilities, especially this blog since I am the only contributor. If I’m not here, no one is here. Still — it’s been a beautiful break. A much needed one.
Never underestimate the power of a timely escape and an undivided rest.
