People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered;
forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
be kind anyway.
If you are successful you will win some false friends and true enemies;
If you are honest people may cheat you;
be honest anyway.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
be happy anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough; The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
do good anyway.
Give the world the best you’ve got anyway.
You see, in the end, it is between you and God;
it was never between you and them anyway.
So often we fall into the trap of trying to please others, of fearing the reactions of others or the repercussions of our actions. But what was said here is true.
It’s not about them.
It’s not about us.
It’s all about God.
It has always been about God.
The better and sooner we remember that, the more peace we’ll find in living the life to which He has called us.
