Talk to me!
April 17, 2009
Hey, all! I’ve been thinking about this for a while and have noticed a few other bloggers wondering the same things, so today I’m inviting you to sound off. PLEASE comment or email me with your thoughts on this! I want to know what you think.
- What do you want to see on this blog?
- Which types of posts are your favorite? (devotional/spiritual, parenting, book reviews, random thoughts, helpful tips, recipes?)
- Which don’t interest you at all?
I’ve maintained this blog for over two years. At its genesis every post was like a devotional. Little by little I started including more of my life: my random thoughts, book reviews, quotes from my kids and silly life encounters void of specific spiritual application. At times it feels a little too mish-mashy.
Since you’re the ones reading it, maybe you can give me a little direction. Do you like the mental goulash I offer? Or do you want more cohesion on the site? If you like a little more consistency of content and, perhaps, a more defined purpose, let me know which direction you think I should take. Talk to me!

I think I’m a new reader of yours, but I really like it all. I do especially like your devotional writings, but I think that mixing in some real life stuff is good, too.

I love the mix, and I think your writing reflects that you don’t separate the spiritual from your daily life. It’s clear you’re on a journey with God, even though not every post literally mentions him (hmmm…what other writing example can I think of that does that…could it be one we read every day?). That’s just my thought.

I like to read stuff that gives me a sense of the blogger’s personality. SInce it’s a fairly impersonal medium, finding a way to share who you are and what you’re about – what makes you laugh, what drives you crazy, is something that I enjoy.

I love it when you use your real life, everyday things to share Jesus with us and encourage. Like your angels in disguise story and especially Mama Loves:)

I like the mix of everything. I actually am not a fan of blogs that stick with one subject only, it drives me batty.

Hey Tanya! I love the devotionals where you gain insights through your children. They really stick with me. I also love hearing your zack- attacks and ellie- isms. I enjoy any tidbits you share about what “works for you”…. basically more of what you are already doing

I wouldn’t change a thing! I thoroughly enjoy your blog. I love to read how you process things and how the world looks through your eyes.

I came here because I saw a comment of yours about Alpha Inventions in which said that you got comments on your “rants” but on your meditations. — I’m an older man, one kind of visitor. No doubt you have a vast range, including people your own age. We all get graces, as it were, from different aspects of your production. Often, for me, meditative posts are food for thought; I agree with them, and the better they are the less there is to say in comment. Your category cloud is very helpful and shows a wide range of interest. I’d say keep on, keep on. Let people choose by their own inner guidance.

My blog is always evolving and I’ve been at it about 3 years. I think blogs mirror seasons of life. The first year it was a devotional type blog as I worked through some writer and parenting stuff, now as I struggle with publication, it’s a crazy mix. Go with whatever is on your heart and be true to yourself and what’s going on in your life at the time!
